EMDR and EFT Integration

Based on my client's needs, I integrate elements of EMDR and Emotionally Focused Therapy.

EMDR primarily focuses on processing traumatic memories and reducing their emotional intensity through bilateral stimulation and aims to help you reprocess distressing memories and develop more adaptive and positive responses to them. EFT is a structured approach to help you identify and change patterns that are causing you distress by understanding and improving emotional bonds within your relationships.

Here are 3 ways I integrate EFT with EMDR -

Sequential Integration: We use EMDR to process the distressing experiences that are impacting your ability to engage in emotionally healthy relationships. Once these memories are processed, we can then use EFT techniques to address the relational patterns and enhance emotional connection within you as an individual or within the couple relationship.

Parallel Integration: We may alternate between EMDR and EFT techniques within the same session or across sessions, depending on your presenting issues and treatment goals. For example, we may start with EMDR to address trauma and then transition to EFT to work on improving communication and emotional intimacy within your relationships.

Combined Techniques: We also may integrate elements of both EMDR and EFT techniques within the same session, using bilateral stimulation to facilitate emotional processing while simultaneously exploring your relational dynamics and attachment patterns.

The integration of EMDR and EFT is always tailored to your specific needs and preferences.
